6/26/2009: CONGRESSMAN CARNEY VOTES TO KEEP AMERICA SAFE AND FURTHER SECURE BORDERS
Washington, DC – This week, Rep. Carney, Chairmen of the Management, Investigations and Oversight sub-committee of the Homeland Security committee, voted to ensure that our homeland security remains a top priority by investing in programs that will keep Americans safe. The Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act emphasizes programs that secure our borders, ports and airports, and help train local first responders and emergency personnel. To maintain fiscal responsibility, the bill eliminates 17 programs and cuts funding for another 40 programs while making certain that the most effective programs and security initiatives are fully supported.

6/25/2009: REP. CARNEY VOTES TO REBUILD OUR MILITARY READINESS AND SUPPORT OUR TROOPS
Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Christopher P. Carney voted to give our military the tools it needs to ensure that it is fully prepared for threats and challenges worldwide. The National Defense Authorization Act provides unprecedented support for American men and women in uniform and will improve the lives of military families. The National Defense Authorization Act will dramatically increase America’s military readiness, reduce waste, fraud and abuse in military contracting, and make critical investments in our security future.

6/22/2009: REP. CARNEY ANNOUNCES NEW SMALL BUSINESS LENDING PROGRAM
Washington, DC – Local small businesses across northeast and central Pennsylvania may soon be eligible for interest-free loans under a new program created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), Rep. Carney announced today. The newly launched “America’s Recovery Capital” (ARC) program allows small firms to pay down existing business debts without overburdening the firms with interest payments and other costs. Borrowers pay no interest on the ARC loans and repayment does not begin for one year. Rep. Carney said the new program is part of Congress’ ongoing work to help rebuild the economy.
